Their author, Iohannes Bolniensis, bishop of the Caucasis, is not otherwise known, but his work is a faithful reflection of the ancient liturgy of Jerusalem which was still being practiced in Georgia in Iohannes's time; two centuries later Georgia aligned itself with the liturgy of Constantinople
